Vocabulary Word of The Day 3.24 (Photography)

Aperture- The Aperture limits the amount of light coming through. The different sizes of apertures are called F stops. An f stop of 5.6 means the aperture is actually smaller then if the aperture was 2.8. The bigger the number the smaller the aperture and vise versa.

The bigger the Aperture the more light is going to shine through and the Depth of Focus will be smaller, this is good if you want good background blur or want only part of your photo to be in focus.

The smaller the Aperture the less light is going to shine though and the Depth of Focus will be larger so this is good if you want everything to be sharp.

The photography gallery has been set up and will soon host my photos. I am using Gallery2 to show my photos and you should check them out if you want a free full featured gallery.

Vocabulary Word of The Day 3.23 (Photography)

Shutter Speed- Measures how long the shutter was open exposing the film or sensor in the case of digital photography. Shutter speed is measured in fractions so 1/30 would be 1/30th of a second. You will normally not experience motion blur while hand holding the camera at a shutter speed of 1/60 ( this is with a 55 mm focal lenth). Telephoto Lenses also magnify motion blur so you would have to have a higher speed then 1/60 such as 1/100 or higher.

Note that as you increase how fast the shutter closes you will receive less light but that can be remedied by increasing how large the aperture is.

Vocabulary Word of The Day 3.23 (Electronics)

Resistor- A resistor is probably the most common component in electronics. They are used to limit a certain amount of voltage ( hence their name ). Resistors are measured in ohms (? is the symbol for ohms).

The amount of resistance a resistor has is usually shown by 4 colors on the resistor. The first band is the first number, the second band is the second number, the third band is how many zeros to add and the fourth band is the tolerance or how far off the actual resistance might be.

The Color Codes for Resistors are located here

I'm sorry for not updating the site for several days, but there will be updates shortly. I have established a partnership with The Geek Center, a great company that provides computer supprt for very low prices. With our partnership, The Geek Center and I will begin making custom-made PC's built to order for very low prices. I have teamed up with Ryan, a good friend of mine to develop the online application. The Geek Center will provide support for these PC's. If you'd like to find out more information about these PC's and maybe order one, contact info@thegeekcenter.net. Also, here is what we're thinking of making the base model, something we think that most people would get. Remeber, all this is customizable.

This is what we have in mind...

-80GB SATA 3GB/s
-1GB DDR2
-2.0ghz 64bit Sempron 3400+
-20x DVD Burner
-4x USB 2.0
-6 Channel Audio Support
-Integrated Graphics

Computers like this in the store would cost $500+, please email me with suggestions on how this should be priced. Keep in mind that we are including tech support and other goodies.
